Water-Should-I-DrinkFour out of five people do not drink enough water.

Most people in the UK drink less than the 8glasses of water a day recommended.

Many people think drinking tea, coffee and diet drinks are a good substitute for water.  This thinking is wrong.

Research has shown that even small levels of dehydration can cause headaches, lethargy and an overall lack of alertness and change in our moods.

Long term dehydration can cause problems in the renal and cardiovascular systems, as well as mental functioning.

A healthy diet can be seriously undermined if you persistently suffer from even mild dehydration.

Symptoms of dehydration include skin on the back of the hand being slow to spring back when pinched, dry or discoloured tongue and darker urine than normal.

Each person loses approximately 6pints of water daily.  one pint from perspiring – two pints from breathing – three pints from urine.
