FAME CULTURE BLAMED FOR GIRLS MISSING MEALS

Teenage girls are skipping breakfast and lunch to avoid putting on weight.  Having taught PE in Secondary School Ive seen and heard the conversations between girls, and Im not surprised it has now been claimed by researchers that the celebrity culture is to blame.

Over 50% of girls asked in a survey between the ages of 14-15years want to be thinner.  25% of them said skipped breakfast and 20% skipped lunch.

The Eating Disorder Charity ‘Beat’ said “Celebs are being scrutinised in the media for flaws and imperfections as much as for their glamour.  This leads young people to consider their own bodies in a critical light too.”
