The PILGRIM Challenge | 60miles 2Day XNRG Ultra

| 09/02/2012 | 2 Comments More

The Pilgrim Challenge is a 2day 60mile Ultra organised by XNRG…  The route covers theNorth Downs National Trail, the oldest trade route in England and was used by the Pilgrims for Winchester, Canterbury, Dover & the Continent.  The race route follows the North Downs Way from Farnham in Surrey through to Merstham in Surrey.

The event is great for anyone that wants a challenge that takes you past a marathon distance and takes you into the world of Ultra Marathons, and if you are training for races such as the Marathon des Sables and the North Face sponsored Ultra Trail Mont Blanc then this is one race you should do.  And what better way to see some of Englands most stunning countryside!

I did their first Pilgrims Challenge a couple of years ago and came back again last year, as I had such a great time as I have on all XNRG races Ive competed in, they are so well organised by the XNRG team headed up by Neil Thubron who is an Ex-Royal Marine and knows how to put on a well organised challenge.  There is nothing I can fault this race with, its runs like a military operation, and the team look after the whole field of runners from the first across the line to the final competitor as if they are family and friends, and that spills over into the whole event with many of the competitors coming back for more XNRG events which becomes a succession of reunions throughout the year with great comerardary.

Day one: The race starts from Sandy Farm Business Centre in Farnham, finishing at the end of day one at St. Nicholas School, Merstham, Redhill, Surrey, where awaitng for you is the smiles and congratulations to all runners from the XNRG Team where you have shower facilities, rest area, massage, and a resturant with a large TV along with guest speakers who have done many of the races overseas many of you doing a race like this aspire to do.

Day two: Starts at the school where you finished on day one and runs along the North Downs Way, retracing your steps back to Sandy Farm Business Centre.

Not only do you get a fantastic race event, but free parking, a fully recced route, a quality tech event tshirt, a medal, checkpoint food and water which includes gels, cake, sweets, sandwichs and much more – there really is no corners cut on XNRG Events.
