Tuna with Sesame Spinach

This great fish meal will serve 4 people, so great for the family or for inviting over a couple of friends.

  • 4x 150g Fresh Tuna Steaks
  • 4tbsp Olive Oil
  • 3tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2x Hot Red Chillies (drained, de-seeded and finely chopped)
  • Salt & Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 3tbsp Sesame Seeds
  • 2tbsp Sesame Oil
  • Juice of 1/2 a Lime
  • 25g Baby Spinach Leaves (washed)
  • 225g Halved Baby Plum Tomatoes

 

1. Place the tuna steaks into a shallow dish.  In a bowl mix together with 2tbsp of olive oil, 2tbsp of soy sauce and the chillies.  Pour over the tuna steaks and season with freshly ground black pepper. Set to one side for 30mins.

2. Meanwhile, for the dressing, in a frying pan, dry-fry the sesame seeds over a medium heat for 1-2mins, stirring all the time until golden.

3. Tip the toasted sesame seeds into a bowl and add the remaining olive oil, soy sauce, sesame oil and lime juice.  season to taste.

4. Using a griddle pan, heat till really hot and add the tuna steaks and any marinade and sear for just 1-2mins each side or until your liking.

Pile the spinach and sesame salad onto the middle of each plate and place the seared tuna steaks and serve.
