Close your eyes and picture the most fantastic imaginative fantasy world you could put a marathon…  You got it! Walt Disney, running past Mickey and his crew, The Enchanted Castle, and the rest of this most amazing park….

On a crisp Sunday morning, thousands of runners toe the line ready to run the Walt Disney World® Marathon. With countless hours of training and hundreds of miles conquered, each runner was ready to earn their Mickey medal. And then their magical journey begins.

At each mile, runners experienced the most magical running route for which the Walt Disney World® Marathon is known. From running past iconic locations like Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom® Park, Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park, The Twilight Zone Tower of TerrorTM at Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ and Spaceship Earth at Epcot®, to being cheered on by beloved Disney characters along the way, 26.2 miles never felt so good.  At the end, each runner was congratulated with their very own Mickey Medal.

For the 2nd consecutive year, Fredisano Costa of Votorantim, Brazil, was the overall male winner with a time of 2:19:02, despite being challenged through the race by fellow Brazilian Adriano Bastos. Matt Hansley finished in 3rd place. Renee High of Virginia Beach, Virginia won her first title in the women’s race, winning with a time of 2:48:35.  Emily Kroshus of Boston, MA and Christa Stephens from St Petersburg, FL finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.

From the 92 Perfect runners who completed their 19th Walt Disney World Marathon to the first-time Mickey medal recipient, every participant went home with the feeling of accomplishment and memories that will last a lifetime.  Congratulations to you all!
