Vitamin A is a fat soluble vitamin that can be stored in the body.  It is sometimes referred to as the skin vitamin as it is needed to repair skin tissues and protect against spots, achne and scaly scalp.  Vitamin A is essential to healthy eyes and good vision and helps us see in dim lights, hence the old saying carrots help you see in the dark.

Vitamin A is also needed for an improved immune system for healthy growth in the young and for strong nails, and hair.

Functions:

Good vision development, proper cellular growth and maintenance.

Sources:

Organ meats such as liver and giblets, vegetables such as sweet potatoes, pumpkin, carrots, spinach, turnip greens, cantaloupe, cod liver oil, eggs, milk and butter.
